Manhattan Beach Rotarian Larry Johnson attended the December 20th Westchester Club meeting. This was the meeting where the Odum family was honored at the completion of the makeover of their home by the Club. It was a very moving experience, especially viewing the very professionally done video of the project and the family's first viewing of their renovated home.

The story of this project is one that would benefit all Rotarians to hear about. This is a story of a Club that tried to make a difference in the lives of a family that had given so much, but was now under the stress caused by a serious debilitating illness of the family's main breadwinner. What started out as a modest repainting and landscaping project, grew into a major renovation. Every Rotarian and even their families participated in some way. Community members and merchants, upon hearing and seeing what this Club was doing volunteered their time, skills, and products to this effort. There are many heart wrenching stories here, including one of the pregnant wife of a Rotarian who came out to do landscaping on her hands and knees to ensure timely completion of the project.

Congratulations to the Rotary Club of Westchester on a fabulous project which you will hear more about in the coming months!
