The second President's Dinner was held Nov. 30, 2006 at the LAX Flight Path Museum in El Segundo. Sponsored by the Westchester Rotary Club and the Rotary Club of Beverly Hills, the event attracted 70 Rotarians including a dozen or so club presidents.
 

Val Velasco, president of the Westchester Rotary Club, invited any club president in the room to make an announcement of their club's activities and charitable projects. Several responded.

 

Brad Robinson of the Beverly Hills club told of the District Rotaplast Mission to Santa Cruz, Bolivia. The purpose of the mission is to provide a surgical program to treat children with the cleft lip and palate anomaly who would otherwise not receive surgical intervention.

 

Santa Monica Rotary Club described a matching grant program for a desalination plant in Bermuda.

 

South Bay Sunrise Rotary is looking for a table saw to send to Guymas, Mexico.

 

Angi Ma Wong of the PV Sunset Club announced Feb. 17, 2006 for the 2007 Chinese New Year's party.

 

The best news of the evening was an announcement that the District raised more than $204,000 for Rotary charitable projects at the recent Paul Harris Dinner.7                         

 

The evening topped off with a performance by the New Directions Choir. Singing Acapella the choir entertained assembled Rotarians with several memorable tunes.
