LOS ANGELES (June 21, 2008) -- At the Parade of Presidents last Saturady evening, out-going District Governor David Moyers announced that District 5280 Rotarians raised more than $550,000 for The Rotary Foundation during the 2007-08 Rotary Year.

The sum exceeded Governor Moyers' original goal by more than $27,000. The Governor also announced an anonymous grant from a Manhattan Beach Rotarian of $1-million (that's right, one million) bringing the total District 5280 will contribute to The Rotary Foundation to over one-and-a-half million dollars, more than 200% higher than the original goal.

"Keep in mind," added PDG Rick Mendoza, District Annual Giving Chair, "these are the funds that will come back to District 5280 in three (3) years for all of the wonderful funding for Ambassadorial Scholars, Matching Grants and District Simplified Grants.  Funds that you will be able to use for your humanitarian projects.  Governor David Moyers, the District Foundation Team, and all the humanitarians projects waiting to be funded, thanks all Rotarians in the District for this herculean effort."
