Rotarians understand that bringing lasting change in their lives, communities and world requires working cooperatively with like-minded individuals. Every day, Rotary clubs work in concert with local governments, businesses, and other organizations to bring much needed improvements to people and communities both at home and abroad. In that spirit, Rotary International will recognize club service projects, done with other organizations, with the Best Cooperative Project Award. The award honors clubs that have increased awareness and understanding of Rotary by working with other organizations.

Eligible projects must service activities addressing a humanitarian need. Examples of previous award-winning projects include:

- The Rotary Club of Chalisgaon Milk City (India) partnered with a local social service organization, Shreedharsingh Rajput Samajik Seva Sanstha, to provide nutritional supplements and monthly medical exams to 108 severely malnourished children in nearby villages. As a result, none of the children suffered fatalities, and 90 had completely recovered from malnourishment within one year.

- The Rotary Club of Legazpi (Philippines) collaborated with UNICEF, the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA), European Community Humanitarian Organization (ECHO), and the Department for International Development of the U.K. (DFID) to construct and renovate restroom facilities in 28 public schools. The schools are used the by the general public as community evacuation centers during natural disasters and inclement weather conditions.

- The Rotary Club of Spokane-West (USA) joined with local chapter of Second Harvest, a food bank and redistribution center, and Green Bluff Growers, a cooperative of local orchard growers, to glean wasted fruit from nearby commercial orchards and homeowners with fruit trees. If harvested while still in good condition, the fruit was donated to local food banks to help feed the poor and hungry.

Winning projects will receive a special certificate and may be included in future Rotary publications or publicity materials.
