It was all treats and no tricks at Camp Pendleton on October 26. In our District’s ongoing partnership with the military base, several Rotarians, Interactors and Rotaractors spent the day volunteering at the Camp Pendleton Halloween Party.

It was truly a day of Rotary Moments as all the children came up to the Rotary table and had their hair sprayed an array of glorious colors after having had their faces painted.  They also received candy, hot dogs, cookies and sodas at other areas on the grounds.

Interactors, Rotaractors and Rotarians were busy at many stations dispensing food and helping with the other activities.  Many thanks to Hawthorne-LAX-Lennox Rotarian Larry Bender and his team in obtaining a bus for the volunteers which was welcomed with open arms. We give special thanks to the Behavioral Services/Pacifica House in Hawthorne who donated a transport truck to take down many of our donations.

Thanks to the donations from the South Gate and Rio Hondo-Vernon Rotary Clubs, we were able to present Camp Pendleton Rotarian Linda Sundram with about $1,000.00 in gift certificates and other donations.  Other Rotarians brought or sent donations from their clubs which included coats, diapers, and numerous other items including 106 pumpkins donated by the Wilshire Rotary Club. The Rotary Club of Universal City Sunrise, with five participants that day and a donation of 30 pairs of children's shoes, also made a big impact. We’re grateful to Rio Hondo-Vernon Rotarian Marie Fremd and Larry Bender for their instrumental planning and guidance with the event. View the photos of the event here.
