District 5280 Foundation presents a social awareness forum and action plan spotlighting: "Erase Hate, Foster Acceptance".

Keynote speaker: Judy Shepard, mother of Matthew Shepard and founder of the Matthew Shepard Foundation. Dennis Shepard, Matthew's father, will also speak during the forum.

You may remember the story of Matthew Shepard, a college student, who twenty years ago was tied to a fence in Laramie, Wyoming, savagely beaten and left for dead. It was a case that shocked the nation and became known as one of the most heinous hate crimes. December 1st is his birth date and his mother, Judy Shepard, will be speaking to us about her son and her work with the Matthew Shepard Foundation.

The Forum will include workable actions that each club in our District can put into place to reduce indices of hate and encourage acts of kindness.
