Cardboard Boat Race & Beach Party

As you have probably heard, this year’s District Picnic will be an evening Beach Party on Saturday, August 27 from 5:00 to 9:00 pm at the Seaside Lagoon in Redondo Beach.  Rotarian, Rotaractors, Interactors and their families are invited. 

 

The theme of the is party is “Hot August Night” (those of you who are Neil Diamond fans will know what this means!)   We will also have a DJ and possibly a Karaoke competition.

 

We would love to have every club in District 5280 participate.   There is no charge to attend so we depend on contributions of food, drinks and money to help cover the costs.  Will your club help? 

 

 

Once again PDG Chuck Anderson will be commodore of the cardboard boat race.  Please read the cardboard boat rules carefully.  In the past we have gone with the Four Way Test to assume that the rules were followed, unfortunately last year we had some issues.  This year the boats will be examined before the race to make sure that they are eligible to participate.

 

For those clubs who don’t want to build a boat, we will be having a chili competition.   The cost to enter each of these events is $25 per entry.

 

Please complete the registration form and e-mail it to Wendy Clifford at 5280picnic@gmail.com.  Mail your payment to the District Office (8939 S. Sepulveda Blvd., #210, Los Angeles, CA 90045) indicating what it's for.  Submit all forms & payment by August 20^th.
