Rotary Awards & Recognitions

Rotary International President Sakuji Tanaka has encouraged Rotary clubs and members to make an extra effort to achieve Peace Through Service. Those clubs that meet these goals will be recognized with the Presidential Citation. To see what your club needs to do, click here to read the Presidential Citation brochure.

Here is a simple way of breaking down the requirements for the Presidential Citation with this helpful summary and suggestions.

In addition to this club recognition, there are several other awards for individual Rotarians and for Rotary clubs (click on the links for information and/or application forms)

FOR INDIVIDUAL ROTARIANS

Avenues of Service Citation

Club Presidents may personally recognize one club member for outstanding efforts in each of the 5 Avenues of Service. This can be done at any time during the Rotary year.  Click here for the nomination form.

Reach One, Keep One Award

Club Presidents can nominate and recognize individuals who sponsor new members while focusing on retention. There are several award categories. Have your club Secretary review your records to see if any of your members qualify:

1. Gold pin and certificate: for Rotarians bringing 25 members into any Rotary club, with 20 still active after six years

2. Silver pin and certificate: for Rotarians bringing 10 members into any Rotary club, with 8 still active after four years

3. Bronze pin and certificate: for Rotarians bringing 5 members into any Rotary club, with 4 still active after two years

Family & Community Service Award

Rotary clubs may recognize individuals or organizations for outstanding service to families and /or communities, or in recognition of contributions made by spouses or family members of Rotarians. This is a great way to celebrate Family Month in December and to promote Rotary in the community.  Certificates are available for purchase in packages of 10.  Click here to order Certificates.

FOR CLUBS

Club Builder Award

The District Governor is able to recognize up to 10 Rotarians who have made a significant impact in supporting and strengthening their Rotary clubs. If you have a member who should be nominated, please email Governor Sean at shogan@buckleyhogan.com

Rotary Foundation Citation for Meritorious Service

The District Governor can recognize one Rotarian each year who has demonstrated active service to the Foundation for more than one year. If you have a recommendation, Complete this application form and send it to Governor Sean.

Rotary Foundation District Award

In addition to the one person recognized by the Rotary Foundation, the District Governor is able to recognize up to 20 additional Rotarians for recognition by the District. All nominees for the Citation for Meritorious Service will be considered for the District Award.

Rotary Foundation Global Alumni Service to Humanity Award

This award honors outstanding Rotary Foundation alumni who have contributed to greater understanding and peace through service to humanity, and whose significant achievements have enriched their profession or vocation. Each District may nominate one candidate and a Rotary Zone committee will then select the recipient. Complete the application and return it to Governor Sean.

Donald MacRae Peace Award

This award recognizes an individual or organization for outstanding achievement towards the Fourth Object of Rotary: The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service. The 2013 application is not yet out, but here is the 2012 form (already awarded) so that you can see the nomination criteria for next year.
