Do-goodery Introduction. December 2021

One of the cornerstones of Rotary is service.  The reputation of Rotary, both locally and worldwide, has been to provide “Service above Self.”  We want to use a term that has been used among several Rotary leaders:  Do-goodery.   We have added a site page, the purpose of this is to help provide stories and articles regarding service work being accomplished with Rotary Clubs in District 5050.

As well as inspire and give ideas about ways to serve other.  Do-goodery can be accomplished through individual acts of service, group service projects by your Rotary Club, service projects with other Rotary Clubs or service clubs, or projects that may be with Rotary Clubs outside of District 5050.  Please use this website to share ideas and inspire others.

100 Acts of Service
The Mount Vernon Rotary Club has been celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2021.  As a way of celebrating this special event, the Rotary Club is attempting to perform 100 acts of service from July 2021 to June 2022.  Gary Lorenz, Service Committee Chair, proposed this idea to the Club’s Board, and it was enthusiastically approved.  The club has done a number of service projects already including several joint projects involving Rotarians from other clubs.  Individuals have been doing service projects, from donating blood to tutoring students.  The 100 Acts of Service has encouraged Rotarians
to “practice service above self” individually, and has stimulated the club members to do more projects together.  It has promoted excellent fellowship among members, and has provided more community support through service.
