EAGER BEAVER
May 17, 2017

We were greeted today by Erika.

Harry filed in for Pres Jackie and led us in the pledge.

Our Guest Speaker, the Imam, gave our invocation…

Dale led us in moving versions of I’ve Been Working on the Railroad; When the Sts go Marching In; and Smile.  Dale filled in for Harry, since Harry was filling in for Jackie.

Vic auctioned off 2 unsold auction items.

We had two students of the month and their Family members.

Christopher Latilla, a Senior at Beaver High School.  He has been a member of the JROTC, having carried many hours of Community Service with them.  He plans to go to Pitt to study Pre-Med.

Joshua Fertell, also a Senior at Beaver High School.  Josh likes everything  “science.”  He ran Cross country and track.  He plans to attend Harvard in the Fall to study physics or another area of science.

Congratulations to both!

Hank introduced our speaker, Imam Wajed.  He is from the Pittsburgh (downtown) area Mosques.  He is a Priest with over eight years of study serving about 500-600 people locally, although there are 10-15K Muslims in the Pittsburgh area.  He also does a lot of inter-faith work with colleges and churches.  There are about 1.75 billion Muslims in the world that follow the Koran in its several interpretations. Some Muslims in the old world adhere to ancient traditions however he believes that much of those traditions are incompletely reported in the west.   In his mosque he thinks the traditions must be adapted to the current world and times.   All people worship the same God, no matter your Religion.

Harry won the 50/50 drawing the Queen of Clubs.
