Luna Vista hears about Pregnancy Support in Woodland

President Vinnie had his hands full for our meeting this last Thursday.  Sean Colon was in the house as was Duane & Raylene Ewing.  We celebrated Maribeth's birthday and Cass invited everyone to her house for Picnic Day fun.  Happy Dollars was presided over by Doug, I mean Burt, Vanderpool (you had to be there to understand) and we celebrated Joe Muller's Olive Oil winning Best In Class for Yolo County, Marise Rinkel plan for a Colorado Loop to raise funds, and Duane announcing the 3 Woodland clubs have over 70 tickets purchased for the Rivercats game (with monies designated for Polio).  Also in attendance was Past Noon Club President Donna Mast who assisted with the program.  Carol Duty, who is the executive director of the Pregnancy Support Group of Woodland, gave our program and presented on overview about the group and their work in our community.  The group was founded in 1983 and she has been the ED for almost that entire time.  They are focused on giving each girl individual attention and a lot of information on places to live, doctors, alternatives, trying to make a decision outside of fear.  They also try to get the father involved as many times they are not supportive.  Unplanned pregnancy can be a crisis and they are committed to providing accurate information on prenatal development, abortion, and adoption.  This information is reinforced through the earning of "Mommy Bucks" that can be exchanged for diapers & formula as well as classes on parenting skills.
