We welcome teachers and administrators from Woodland & Pioneer High Schools for our program about Small Learning Communities.
With President Charlene off to help at PETS, PP Paul filled in and welcomed a nice crowd to our usual Thursday night festivities.  We had a visit from Blanca Garcia who let us know about the Burgers & Brews event to help support the Woodland Schools Foundation.  The Harvest folks have another pick going on this Saturday.  Happy Dollars included the announcement that Ron & Petra re-proposed to each other and Petra had the ring to prove it.  And then Ron got a text that he is going to become a grandpa - congratulation!  Our program featured 4 teacher/administrators from Woodland & Pioneer high schools to explain to us the Small Learning Communities.  The vision of the program is "College and Career Readiness". Led by Paige Tommerason, these educators explained that with both schools this program is focused on the 9th grade.  The class is broken into 4 groups and the goal is to shrink the big high school down to a smaller community.  They want to get the kids more career oriented and they accomplish by bringing in community members to consult, advise, and validate the type of career a student may want to pursue.
