Our own Judge Dave Reed walks us through what the Yolo County Judicial system has been doing to stay in sync with COVID-19 pandemic policies.
Announcements:
We were joined by PE of the Modesto Sunrise Rotary Club (and life long pal of President Brian) Tom Vandersheen
The Brewfest committee had discussions with the City of Woodland about our event in September.  Everyone is in waiting mode around Public Health Directives
Empower Yolo is having a clothing drive for those impacted by COVID-19.  Please help if you can - see below for more info.

The Luna Vista Board met earlier this evening.  Among the topics discussed was cash flow for the club.
Please consider submitting some dollars for the good of the club.

Additionally, the Lamberts grabbed the bull by the horns and got the magnificent banner put up at St. Johns showing our support.
And Don Lambert is our Lunatic of the Week!

If you can please send in a donation to help with the cost.
The address for these donations is:
Luna Vista Rotary
P.O. Box 8372
Woodland, CA 95776.

Lastly, Brian sent out an email from Lori Ross of United Way about having to cancel the Woodland Reads event in May.
So she is organizing folks to video tape themselves reading books for the kids that can be stored and accessed through the United Way website.
If you need more info, contact President (counting the days) Brian.

Program:

Judge Dave Reed presented our program this week on how the Yolo County Judicial System is adapting to the changing COVID-19 policies in the County

He summarized the changes using a timeline starting back in January (wash your hands!) through the Shelter in Place directives in mid-March.
Almost 50% of the Judges are 65 or older and so they have been asked to stay home.
Judge Reed discussed many items ranging from postponing non-essential work, non-transporting of inmates, and the recently enacted early release program.
They are hoping to restart Jury Trials later this summer.

Thanks Dave for this timely presentation!

Next Week: President Brian will walk us through the Myths and Realities of Distance learning.
