At last Monday's meeting, Marilyn Titus shared an overview of her experience from attending the 2017 Rotary International Convention in Atlanta, Georgia. Rotary Clubs across the world are experience new dynamics with members representing multiple generations. The dynamics are compelling clubs to push the envelope by trying new ideas to meet the needs of members who are more diverse than ever before.
Some of these new ideas include:
Offering the opportunity to attend a weekly meeting via a live feed over the Internet through Periscope, Skype, or another online streaming vehicle.
Working on a short service project during the weekly one-hour club meeting.
Changing the times of weekly club meetings to accommodate schedules and needs of members.
We will talk about these ideas and more during this Rotary year to strengthen our club and better serve our community.
One item everyone was asked to consider is a different approach to club membership:
As a club, would it be prudent to introduce a "business level" membership, similar to chamber of commerce memberships, that would identify a principal member while permitting another employee of the organization to attend a meeting in the principal member's stead?
