Overview
The Rotary Club of Cataraqui-Kingston launched Adventures in History in 2012. This is a three-day Rotary-sponsored program designed to actively engage students in learning and decision-making around historical issues. It is open to high school students who have an interest in history and want enriched opportunities to learn about and explore the rich heritage of Kingston, Eastern Ontario, and Canada.
Participating students are exposed to post-secondary programs and discover vocational opportunities in historical work with tourism, museums, advertising, public relations, human resources, education, and Internet work. This theme changes yearly and this year’s theme is the history surrounding Sir John A. MacDonald, Canada’s first Prime Minister.
Candidates: Current grade 11 and 12 students who have expressed interest in history and may be considering a career in history. If there are still openings by early September, students in grade 10 history classes may apply. Teacher recommendations would be helpful.
Each participant is sponsored by one of our District 7040 Clubs. Students from the entire district are welcome to apply. The program is delivered in English.

Responsibility of Sponsoring Rotary Club:
The Sponsoring Club is responsible to select one or two students who would like to attend, help with the application process (see Registration tab) and submit the application. The Sponsoring Club is also responsible for paying the registration fee (approx. $100). Once an applicant has been approved, a designated Rotarian from the sponsoring Club will be chosen to mentor each successful applicant.
