This meeting is a joint meeting and will replace the regular Wednesday morning meeting. Please note that it is Thursday evening at the Nepean Kanata location at Villa Lucia. The cost will be $25 as it is a supper meeting. The meeting runs from 6 till 8PM with dinner served from 6-7PM and the talk from 7 - 7:45PM. It is a good idea to arrive at 5:50PM.
The purpose of the meeting is to present the Dominica Project which is a joint project. The leads for the two clubs are Julia Ginley for Orleans Club and Stan Xavier for the Nepean Kanata Club. Also presenting will be Kent Felske, CEO of JERA Group. JERA is the company that will be developing the integrated system to provide distance learning for the Dominica State College. Project Objective: To provide Dominica with an online facility to access skilled trades training for climate resilient homes and infrastructures. Smart Distance Learning: Sustainable Building Techniques.

Petrie Island Canoe Club is one of Orleans Rotary Club's projects that we donate our time and financial contributions to help support and ensure its continued success. Alan Perks will present the Rotary Moment/reflection. Today, we will be honoured with a visit form the District Governor, Gerry Lambert so that we can all get to know each other better. What a fantastic indoctrination bonus for Raymond Leary, Rhonda Draper, Helene Genet, Doug Galway and Mashooda Syed who we will accept into our membership this morning, as well. Just before we meet the District Governor and welcome our new members, Amy Porteous with give a five minute presentation on the Global Leadership Summit 2019. Looking forward to seeing you all there.

Today, we will hear reports from our Committee Chairs. Last week, our President, Francois Trepanier sent out the Budget for all to review. The Budget will be discussed, today, as well. Xavier Rankin will present the Rotary Moment/reflection. On World Polio Day, thousands of Rotary clubs around the world hold events and fundraisers to recognize our progress in the global fight to end polio. Our 2019 online global update will air in multiple time zones and languages, reaching more people and raising more awareness than ever before. Today, we will mark the occassion with a special visitor, Frances Baker. Frances is a polio survivor. Please come and join us as we acknowledge World Polio Day.

Dear Members, The 2019 Poppy Campaign, October 25 - November 10, needs volunteers: 1. They are looking for two Route Assistants for delivery, monitoring and pick-up of the donations boxes. 2. They are looking for In-Store Volunteers to take as many available two hour shifts in larger stores around town. These volunteers work in pairs. 3. And, two volunteers for a One-Time Two Hour Shift the first morning of the campaign, Friday, October 25 from 6:00-8:00am with their donations trays greeting the commuters as they go to work. Robert "Bob" Monette is a politician in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. He first joined political life in 1985 when he served on the Cumberland City Council for six years. Monette returned to serve on the Ottawa City Council in January 2006 in a by-election and was then reelected in November 2006 and October 2010. He retired from Ottawa City Council 2018. |

Hello Members and Happy New Year! Lots will happen early in this New Year, so we will continue to count on your support for 2020! First, this Wednesday, we will meet in a new location, at Broadway Bar & Grill, located at 1615 Orléans Blvd, (corner of Jeanne d'Arc) at Orléans Garden Mall, at the same usual time, at 7:30am. This week, we have an Assembly Meeting, with no specific agenda, other than discussing the four positions that are open for the elections at the end of the month. We need to look at the roles of the positions we need to fill as a Club. As well, this is the last meeting before the Planning session next Saturday (Jan 11th) and I am sure many people will have questions, in preparation for it! I am sure we have lots to share, after this break! So we all look forward to see each other this Wednesday at breakfast! |
