Children at Risk Ottawa is a registered charity providing community supports for children diagnosed within the Autism Spectrum Disorders. Autism is now considered the most disabling developmental disorder. Joining us to speak about the program will be: Brenda Reisch, Executive Director, Children at Risk, Ottawa Brenda is the parent of a now 26 year old severely-Autistic young man, Ian. She became involved with Children at Risk as a Volunteer when Ian was diagnosed at age 2 and then moved into administration with the Charity in 2002 – using both her B. Comm degree and life experiences. Brenda has an older son, Jeremy – who also has had challenges with a premature birth, Cerebral Palsy diagnosis and more recently Bi-Polar disorder. Helping to manage this unique family unit is her wonderful husband of almost 29 years, Jeffrey, who currently works as a Software Engineer/Programmer for WindRiver Systems. Bambina Lemme, Office & Administrative Manager, Children at Risk, Ottawa Bambina joined Children at Risk over 11 years ago, returning to the work force after a lengthy illness with her late husband. Bambina brought both work and life experience to the Charity and helped facilitate the exponential growth of our Services (400% registration increase for Camp Kaleidoscope from 2011-2018). Both of Bambina’s grown sons experienced some developmental challenges as children – so she was a natural in dealing with our Families raising children with Autism! However, her years of serving the Autism Community will soon lead to a well-earned retirement – and hopefully travel and grandchildren!!

Let's all bring our spouse, a partner and/or a friend out for a nice dinner on the town at the restaurant TAPROOM 260 which is conveniently located directly across from our favorite breakfast spot, St. Martha's Brasserie. TAPROOM 260 specializes in Canadian pub fare but is vegetarian friendly and offers a decent non-beer selection, as well.
