The Yellowknife Rotary Club is participating in a project to improve fracture care in Mongolia. They are assisting a local hospital in Ulan Bataar, the capital of Mongolia, by providing the necessary equipment, training and resources to use rods inserted into the bones of the lower legs. These rods will be purchased from the Surgical Implant Generation Network, a non-profit, charitable organization in the United States that makes rods specifically for use in developing countries. These fractures are currently treated with traction in Mongolia.

A major component to the project will be the development of an injury prevention program specific to the needs of the citizens of Mongolia.

Rio Tinto, a global mining corporation, has partnered with the Yellowknife Rotary club to aid in the logistics of equipment transport and the injury prevention program.
