On Tuesday, March 25 at 7pm, a small group of Rotarians with Paul's family and friends, met at his home to honor Paul with his second Paul Harris award.

The gathering was quite pleasant.  Paul was surrounded by his family, friends and Rotarians to recieve his second Paul Harris Award.  His first was received in June 2005.  Paul has had a very long career with the Yellowknife Rotary Club.  This night he reflected on the early years he was with the Club.

Paul said what drew him to the Rotary Club is that it wasn't involved in what most other clubs were involved in... the sports community.  He saw Rotary taking service to the community on a different level.  They focussed nothing on sports, but in other ways to serve the community, such as the Dog Derby, Senior vists, the Canada Day parade, working at the Salvation Army, and so on.

Mostly Paul reflected on the lasting friendships that were developed in Rotary.  He has always enjoyed the immense sense of camaraderie that is present in our Rotary Club.  He noted that this Club is very different than others he has attended. The tight bonds that are developed between members, he has never witnessed anywhere else.

Paul was honored and humbled to receive his second Paul Harris award.  Although Paul will likely not be able to attend any further Rotary meetings, he sends his best to everyone and thanks them for their support.  He is always ready to see a smiling face, so he encourages people to give him and Judith a call, and then stop by for a visit.

Congratulations Paul, on all the hard work you have done over the years for Rotary.  I believe it your deep sense of friendship and service that we have learned from you over the years in Rotary that we remember the most!!!Â
