We the active members of the Rotary Club of Scituate Rhode Island wish to welcome you to our Web Site.  We would like to tell about how our great Club was formed.

Rotary Clubs have expanded, from the beginning, by existing clubs sponsoring new clubs.  The sponsoring club usually provides a Rotary Bell to the new Club as a gift. The first Club was started by Paul Harris in Chicago in the 1905.  Rotary came to Rhode Island in 1911 when the Boston Rotary Club sponsored the first Providence Club.  This Club is still in existence today with well over 100 active members.  Since then, Providence has sponsored seven Rotary Clubs in Rhode Island, one of which was the Cranston Rotary Club.  This occurred in 1935.  Cranston in turn has sponsored six new Rotary Clubs.  One of these is the current Scituate, Rhode Island Rotary Club.  The induction of the Club into the Rotary Family and presentation of the Rotary Bell occurred on June 20, 1970.
