The Scituate Rotary Farmers Market won Best of RI Monthly Magazine for Best Farmers Market in the Statewide Category. We were also excited to be given the title of Best State Farmers Market in RI by American Farmland Trust (AFT). Club members brought our commitment to service to the market. We hosted two e-waste collection events, a clothing drive, a shelter box display, a pet adoption event, and backpack collection drive. The farmer's market has been a wonderful outlet to meet members of our community and to support local groups in our community. We were excited to share our space with the Scituate Sustainability Committe who provide information about recycling, the Gentian Garden Club, Boys and Girls Club, the State Police, the Alzheimer's Association, and several local rescues. We love that the farmers market is a place where our community has come together.
The Scituate Rotary Garden: Weekly donations to the community food bank have helped provide fresh produce throughout the season. With help from a grant from our district, members and friends of Rotary built additional garden beds this year. Over 200 pounds of produce has been harvested. Fall produce continues to mature with mother nature's blessings.
Speaking of Fall, members of the Art Festival committee have been busy getting ready for our biggest fundraiser of the year. Hours have been spent improving operations for two food booths. We will be working all three days serving doughboys, chicken nuggets, and chowder. Please reach out if you can help volunteer. Stop by and support us October 7,8 and 9.
