Peace Essay contest open to middle school students - "What Peace Means to Me"
Scituate Rotary Club
We are excited to Introduce two new members to the Scituate Rotary Club, Biswas Pradhan and Amy Harnedy. Both have shown dedication and enthusiasm for community service. They have a strong commitment to our community and have been volunteering at the farmers market, community garden, and helped at the community cookouts at Rockland Oaks and the Scituate Senior Center. We look forward to the positive impact Biswas and Amy will make in our community and beyond. Welcome to the Rotary family!
Biswas comes to us with a wealth of experience from his active involvement in Rotaract in Nepal. Biswas is passionate about serving the local community and looks forward to engaging with our international peace fellowship initiatives. Amy, brings enthusiasm and dedication to our club. She is particularly interested in volunteering for activities that benefit seniors and children in our community.
On November 13, we celebrated the contributions of our dedicated volunteers with a Volunteer Appreciation Dinner held at LemonGrass Restaurant. It was a night filled with fun and fellowship, perfectly aligned with this year’s theme, "Magic of Rotary."
During the event, we had the honor of recognizing Allan Howe for his remarkable 30 years of service to the Scituate Rotary Club. Allan has been a cornerstone of our club, and his dedication and service continue to inspire us all. Allan is a Paul Harris Fellow and is the longest serving member in our club. During his time with the club, Allan has served on the Board of Directors, been actively involved with the scholarship committee, rotary garden, playground and art festival where it is estimated, he has been involved in the making of up to 92,000 doughboys. If you have seen the play house structure at the playground, Allan led a crew of volunteers and built the structure over many Saturdays. We would like to publicly thank Allan for his commitment to service above self.
Our club would also like to thank everyone who has supported our fundraisers. You are helping us to help the community. This time of year, we are grateful to be able to donate funds for heating assistance, gift cards for food baskets and more to local towns. We will be using the “dough” we made selling doughboys to give back to our community.
