Last Meeting- July 17th

Last week’s program was presented by Rotarian Tim Shuff. Tim’s guest speaker was Brian Ford, COO Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are in the “Entertainment Business”! The entertainment side of the business can’t be affected by what happens on the field. The goal is, even if the team is losing games, that the fans walk away having had a great entertainment experience. More than just the game is included in making the Buc’s, and the NFL, a great entertainment value; Fan Training Camp involvement, the Combine, the Draft, Pass members are all part of the excitement and the attempt to provide added value. A great team, of course, helps the experience! Jameis Winston has exceeded expectations with 2 consecutive 4,000 yard passing seasons in his first two years among many other “firsts”! Building a team unity with Head Coach Dirk Koetter, Defensive Coordinator Mike Smith, free agents Desean Jackson and Chris Baker, along with the 2017 rookie draft choice should make this a very exciting season. Both Super Bowl teams will also be visiting Raymond James Stadium this year for games with the Buc’s. The Buccaneers Franchise has been ranked #1 “off the field” in: Total Engagement, In-Game Technology, Customer Service and Group Sales. With the players and coaches community involvement efforts the excitement continues to grow “off the field”. Raymond James Stadium is the longest “named” (sponsored) stadium in Pro sports. The Buc’s are entering their 20^th season at RJ which is seen as the premier, “Crown Jewel” of the NFL with a 4 times larger screen that before and new surround sound. Raymond James has recently extended their partnership agreement through 2028. Huge stadium and practice facility renovations are underway ($150million) making the experience even greater! HBO Sports “Hard Knocks” is featuring the Buc’s training camp this year with 5 segments beginning August 8 at 10:00pm. Come out and enjoy the Buc’s excitement! -submitted by Mike Arndt

Memorial Ceremony

This Tuesday, July 25^th @ 5:30pm at Dr. Hal and Lynn Brewer Park located at 1491 Hunter St, Plant City, FL 33563 we will have a short ceremony to honor David Miller with the unveiling of the memorial bench and plaque that our club has placed at the site of the Oak tree we have planted in the park. Make plans now to attend.

2016 Community Appreciation Day

Community Appreciation Day
Community Appreciation day is scheduled for Saturday, August 5. Mark your calendars! Below is a message from Past-President Charles Harris:

I wanted to reach out as we are a little less than a month away for our 2nd Community Appreciation Fun Day on August 5th. This event was a tremendous success last year and is expected to be even bigger and better this year. Our Rotary Club is offering a backpack with school supplies to the first 500 children that attend. The club is looking to our members and business owners to assist us in gaining these supplies. We are looking for any supplies such as pens, pencils, notepads, rulers, erasers, etc. that is used for marketing and promotion from your company. This will help the club greatly by reducing the amount of items purchased at retail by the club as well as helping you promote your business. The club would also appreciate any financial donations to support us in purchasing any of these items.

Rotary International Board adopts new zone structure
At its January 2017 meeting, the Rotary International Board of Directors adopted a new zone structure for Rotary clubs. Rotary bylaws require the Board to complete a comprehensive review of the 34 Rotary zones no less often than every eight years to ensure that each zone has an approximately equal number of Rotarians. When Teguest Yilma helped found the Rotary Club of Addis Ababa Entoto in 2002, she thought polio had already been eradicated from most of the world.
