Last week’s program was provided by Rotarian Marcus Caswell.  Marcus’ guest speaker was Mara Latorre with the City of Plant City Planning Board – Urban and Regional Planning.  Mara was at the meeting to announce an upcoming event in Plant City.  “East Hillsborough Discovery Quest”, Saturday, April 7 from 9:00am-3:00pm at the Florida Strawberry Festival Fairgrounds, Charlie Grimes Family Agricultural Center.  Eastern Hillsborough County residents often feel left out and ignored.  But there are great things and people in this area of the County.  Wonderful artist, craftsmen and musicians thrive in Eastern Hillsborough county.  To celebrate where we live, let others learn more about what East Hillsborough County has to offer, and help those who live in this side of the County learn more about services and programs available is the goal of this event.  Recently the Career Source office here in Plant City was closed.  And as of October 1^st, the Express Bus will no longer be coming to Plant City or Seffner/Mango area.  This makes it vital that we help identify ways for those searching for employment locally to find, and obtain viable jobs, or those needing resources, know how to access them locally.  The purpose of the Plant City Advisory Council is to assist the Plant City Community Resource Center, and identify weaknesses in the link to services for residents in our community.  One of the primary concerns is Eastern Hillsborough County residents are not linked to services which they need, or they are unaware of what is available, and how to access those services.  So many of the service providers in this county are located in Tampa and Brandon, with no local offices.  This event is organized by: The Hillsborough County Resource Center of Plant City, The Plant City Advisory Council to the Hillsborough County Plant City Community Resource Center, Community Service Providers, Non-Profits, Businesses and Community Organizations.  Sponsorship opportunities are available.  This event is family friendly with live entertainment and is Free!  Over 63 vendors have committed to this event.  Come out and support “Discovery Quest”!     -Provided by Mike Arndt
