Last Meeting- Aug. 8th

Last week’s program was presented by Rotarian Dennis Digamon. Dennis spoke to the club about Rotary Service Through the Years and the importance of “Service Above Self”. Rotary’s “Four Avenues of Service” include; Club Service, Vocational Service, Community Service and International Service. Dennis Digamon has been the Chairman of the International Service Avenue for many years. Dennis has been instrumental in our club’s successful international efforts. Dennis has, with our club’s support, has lead dental and medical missions to the Philippines 8 times and to Russia two times. These groups have treated more than 3,000 patients that otherwise would not be able to receive medical or dental care that is desperately needed. These missions have been in conjunction with other Rotary clubs and Medical Doctor groups outreach. International service is designed to promote service and peace and understanding. Through these tremendous efforts of dedicated doctors and dentists, giving of their time and talents (service above self), Rotary is making a difference in the world. Group Study Exchange programs throughout the years, sponsored by our club, has also exemplified a spirit of goodwill and peace. Business and Cultural exchanges have also been a great way to show international service around the world. Dennis thanked the club for our dedication to International Service and the support for Service above self and international peace and goodwill. Together we can make a difference in the world.

Our first Community Appreciation Day was a big success. Thanks to all the Rotarians that helped. Also special thanks to the Plant City Police Department, Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, Plant City Fire Rescue and all the other individuals and organizations that made this event possible.
