Last weeks program was provided by Rotarian Tatyana Austin. Tatyana’s guest speaker was Wade Reynolds who was representing the Metropolitan Planning Organization and presented the Tampa Bay Transportation Plan for 2045. The Hillsborough, Pasco, and Pinellas Metropolitan Planning Organizations are working together to develop a Long Range Transportation Plan. This plan will be a blueprint to help shape growth and implement transportation project. We were asked for our input in the form of a survey. The survey questions were explained and then we were to rate each category on our personal thoughts, needs and importance. The issues surveyed were: What is your priority of the following; Storm Vulnerability, Equal Opportunity, Shorter Commutes, Public Service Costs, Traffic Jams, Open/Green Spaces and Alternatives to Driving. The next section relates to scenarios surrounding; New Technologies, Expressway Lanes, and Bus and Rail Service. The next section surveyed Roadways, Community, Transit, and Funding. With current growth accelerated to the point of projecting 1million more residents in the tri-county area by 2045, it is imperative that long-range planning begins now. The three county area currently has about 2.8 million residents and this cooperative effort is designed to help make the best decisions into the future based on residents needs. Congratulations to Jana, Jodi and Christine on being named by the Plant City Observer as Plant City Wonder Women for the work they do in our community. We are proud to have you as members of our club. Keep up the good work!
Our club held a social at the 1916 Irish Pub last Friday. There was a good turn out for an evening of fun and fellowship. If you weren't there, you were missed. Hope to see you next time.
