It's official. At 3.35 am on Friday morning, the Rotary Club of Yea received official notification that our clean water and sanitation project - ablution block and biological waste water treatment plant - at Daysprings Children's Village near Rustenburg in South Africa had been approved by The Rotary Foundation. The total project will cost USD$89,000. It's D 9790's first Global Grant. Well done Julie and Glenda but above all else Ruth for her inspiration on this project. It has taken a while but your perserverance and dedication has been extraordinary. And a big thank you to Lee Strahan for all your support, help and guidance.
Congratulations to all a wonderful effort with more to come!!

It is with great sadness that the Rotary Club of Yea announces the passing this afternoon of PP Ruth Konig a day after her 73rd birthday. She was determined to hang on until approval of the Foundation grant was approved and she did. As she said herself on Friday at the celebration by her hospital bed, "I think my race is run". And it has. Vale PP Ruth Konig.
What can one say at a time like this other than how sad I am however so pleased to have known the lovely Ruth.

Very sad, she was one of my centennial Presidents when Rotary celebrated 100 years of Rotary service in 2004-05. She was a wonderful lady, very committed and passionate & abided by the 4 way test. Sherwani & I were very happy to catch up with her at the Bendigo conference last weekend. May she rest in peace.

How sad to hear this news. I have known Ruth in2013 by keeping in touch on e- mail which she 'd planned to visit Thailand with RFE.group but she couldn't after she 'd found she got cancer. May 2014 I went with RFE.group from D.3360 to exchange. Very warm welcomed with her kindness & generosity at first meet in Benella town before heading to Yea.We had great time in Yea.Thanks again wonderful lady.RIP. You will be kept in our hearts.
