A double-header! The first half of the meeting was the annual high school speech contest. Four delightful students from local schools spoke to our Club about various service-related topics that affected their lives. Thank you Sophia Hyde and Rotarian judges for coordinating this event.
Next, Eric Hart from the Tampa Sports Authority provided an informative update on the various sporting events it hosts.
Eric spoke about the opportunities and challenges facing the Hillsborough County sports industry. The sporting events, concerts, and other entertainment events hosted by TSA brings significant income to the community, with hotel stays often hitting 95%. But there are real challenges ahead with aging venues, expiring contracts, and the challenges associated with hosting events in an urban environment.
Thank you, Rotarian Randy Larson for coordinating this program and for your years of service as a board member of this important organization.
