Last Meeting- February 13th

Last week’s program was presented by Rotarian John Haney. John led the annual Plant City High School/Rotary club round of the District 6890, 2017 Rotary Speech Contest. Judges for the competition from our club were; Marty Clay, Jana Butler and Sophia Hyde. A special thanks to Jamie Stevens, Student Counselor at Plant City High School for organizing this event. Each contestant was judged on time (5-7 minutes), and on a 100 point scale consisting of 40% content, 30% organization and 30% delivery. This year’s theme for the speeches was “Rotary Serving Humanity”. Three students from Plant City High School presented their interpretations of what “Rotary Serving Humanity” means to them. They spoke about how Rotary brings communities together, the impressiveness of Rotary’s global reach, and how Rotary helps people get involved, not just talking about it. Our contestants were, Kiera Davis who took 3^rd place and $25.00, Anna Futch was 2^nd place and received $50, and the winner was Lily Batley who received $100. Lily will go on to represent our club at the District Competition on March 21^st right here at the HCC Trinkle Center, 7:00pm. All Rotarians are welcome to attend and cheer on our representative, Lily Batley! Great job by all the contestants! -submitted by Mike Arndt

Little League Opening Day
Thanks to the club members that helped out Saturday as our club cooked 1800 hot dogs for the opening day participants.

Wild Game Cookout - Friday April 7th

It is extremely important that you get the word out about our event this year. Our club has historically had the best Cookout and we want to ensure that we keep that reputation for years to come. There are numerous Wild Game Cookouts during this time of the year. It is our duty to reach out to our Friends, Family, Neighbors, Employees, Customers, Etc. and make sure that they know when the Plant City Rotary Wild Game Cookout is. Other clubs and organizations are going to be selling to the same individuals very soon and you do not want to find out in late March that you were too late. 2017 Wild Game Flyer is available for you to print and pass out, put on Facebook, send in email to your contacts, etc. It is very important that we get a jump start on the event this year!
