of weather, Rotarian's Clayton Jenkins and Bill Hughes stepped
up and gave a program about membership development.

Community Appreciation Day 8-5-2017

Plant City Rotary Community Appreciation Day.

Our club held it's 2nd annual Community Appreciation Day on Saturday August 5th

at the Randy Larson Softball Complex on Park Road in Plant City. This free family

event was well attended. Participants enjoyed free food, drinks, bounce houses, rock

climbing walls and a dunk tank. The first 500 kids were able to pick up bags of back

to school supplies. There were demonstrations by the Plant City Police Department,

the Plant City Fire Department and the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Department.

Many other groups also participated. Thanks to all the club members, community

members and organizations that made this event a big success. For more photos

On Friday after setting up for the Community Appreciation event, our club

held a socialat the 1916 Irish Pub. The event was well attended and the
Rotarians,spouses andguests present enjoyed a nice evening.

The new Rotary International theme for 2017-2018 is: “Rotary – Making

a Difference”. The new Rotary International President, Ian H.S. Riseley

is challenging all clubs to“make a difference in their communities”.

The 10^th year of Dancing With the Locals is coming up soon and

planning isunderway! We currently have 13 couples signed up.

If you are available toserve on a committee for our second biggest

Rotary International Board adopts new zone structure
At its January 2017 meeting, the Rotary International Board of Directors adopted a new zone structure for Rotary clubs. Rotary bylaws require the Board to complete a comprehensive review of the 34 Rotary zones no less often than every eight years to ensure that each zone has an approximately equal number of Rotarians. The Board’s previous review of the zones occurred in 2008. When Teguest Yilma helped found the Rotary Club of Addis Ababa Entoto in 2002, she thought polio had already been eradicated from most of the world.
