Member Spotlight
Felix Haynes
Felix joined Plant City Rotary in 1999, shortly after he was hired to be Campus President of Hillsborough Community College Plant City Campus. He served as President of Plant City Rotary in 2006-2007. Felix first joined Rotary in 1984 in the Rotary Club of Canton, Illinois, where he served as President of Spoon River College. He left Canton in 1995, when he became President of Dundalk Community College in Baltimore, Maryland and was a member of Dundalk Rotary Club.
Felix holds bachelors, masters, and doctorate degrees from the University of Florida. Before spending his 35-year career in college administration, Felix served as an active duty Army officer, ending his military service in Vietnam. Felix has written and published four books, three historical fiction novels and his latest book, Kenneth Whiting: Remembering a Forgotten Hero of Naval Aviation and Submarines. He is a part-owner of the Plant City Observer newspaper and writes an occasional column there.
A Florida native, Felix grew up in South Tampa and attended Manhattan Elementary, Madison Middle, and Robinson High School. Felix and Susan have been married for 54 years. They have four grown children, all adopted.
