Last Meeting's Program

Last week’s program was provided by Rotarian Brandon Snyder.  Brandon’s guest speaker was Emily Pierce, Executive Vice President of Jensen’s Heart of Gold Foundation, Florida chapter. The namesake of this organization is Jensen Byrd, who was afflicted and ultimately succumbed to cancer at a very young age.

Jensen's Heart of Gold Foundation's  mission is to afford local families with a child with cancer with the opportunity make memories with their child! Cancer affects not just the child, but the entire family.  Often one parent is forced to quit work to care for the ill child while the rest of the family contends with extra responsibilities at home and added stress.  Financial strain from multiple clinic visits, hospital stays, and mounting medical bills only add to the suffering.  Families in this community are dealing with these adversities today.  Jensen’s Heart of Gold Foundation was founded to bring hope for parents of children with cancer in our community.

This organization cannot do what they do without your help.  There are several events throughout the year to help raise funds for this worthwhile cause.  The main fundraiser is Jensen’s Heart of Gold Foundation Gold Gala.  The Gold Gala is an evening of light dinner, drinks, dancing, musical entertainment, and live and silent auctions. All proceeds from this event provide much needed financial relief to kids with cancer in Central Florida. For more information check out the website:  www.jensensheartofgold.com
