Rotary Youth Leadership Experience (RYLE)
RYLE brings High School aged students to Camp Nakamun for a four day leadership developmental camp packed with workshops, speakers, and experiences that build confidence, communities, and empowerment. 
 
The programming of the camp has three main focuses: intrapersonal growth, communication, and community building and global citizenship. Students are encouraged to take part on a challenge-by-choice basis and ample opportunity is given for each participant to express their individuality and test their strengths.
 
One of the greatest outcomes of the program, however, is by far the relationships, communities, and trust that are built within the camp. Over a short, yet intense period the students develop strong trust with both the counsellors and other campers, where they feel comfortable sharing parts of themselves they often haven’t shared with anyone else in their lives. The bonds formed at RYLE have proven time and time again to form lasting supports and many of our alumni are still in contact today. The camp further acts as a gateway into the Rotary Community, providing trackways and opportunities to service-oriented individuals to become involved on a wider scale.
Our students enter RYLE as individuals primed for growth. They leave as leaders part of our Rotary family.

Rotary Youth Program of Enrichment (RYPEN)
RYPEN is a hands-on 4-day “Journey to the Core” personal development experience that is hosted by Rotary International District 5370.

The program is designed for youth aged 15-18 who live within Rotary International District 5370, who want to grow but have limited opportunities to attend other development programs.
 
Participants are involved in a variety of workshops and activities, which provide an opportunity for them to personally develop, gain self confidence, communication skills, gain an understanding of how to set and achieve goals, challenge their personal boundaries, confidence to take control of their own future, build friendships, and develop life skills.

Adventures in Forestry and Environmental Studies
Experience and explore the many facets of the forest and environmental industries. Open to students in grades 10, 11 and 12.
 
From seed to sawdust, the Adventure in Forestry and Environmental Studies program is a unique, fun packed and fast paced way to learn about these industries.
 
Students from all over Canada are welcome to Prince George, B.C. Participation in this three-day event has shaped for many careers and life paths.
 
$1,000.00 scholarship awarded annually to one participant who is going onto post-secondary education in Forestry or Environmental Studies.

Adventures in Citizenship
220 senior high school students from across Canada spend four days in Ottawa experiencing tours, lectures, discussions and social events designed to enhance their understanding and appreciation of Canadian citizenship.
 
Public figures including former Governor General Adrienne Clarkson, the Right Hon. Joe Clark, and the Hon. Ed Broadbent participated in the program as students. 
 
This annual event provides a unique opportunity for a selected group of young Canadians to come together to gain a better understanding of our country. Through meetings with political leaders, senior officials and others, they learn a great deal about the workings of our democratic institutions.
 
Through meeting one another and having discussions among themselves, they learn to appreciate the diversity of Canada and the privileges and responsibilities of Canadian citizenship.

Seminar on United Nations and International Affairs (SUNIA)
SUNIA is North America's longest running Model United Nations summer program. For 66 years we have provided students across the world with the opportunity to meet UN officers, think critically about world issues, engage in simulations covering a variety of social issues, and enjoy the beautiful Rocky Mountains.
 
Since its inception, SUNIA has had the goal of giving its attendees a unique, well-rounded and engaging summer camp experience. At SUNIA, you can learn about different social and political issues on both a local and global scale.
 
This means that in addition to the hiking, canoeing, campfires and other things you might expect from your typical summer camp, our program has a wealth of different opportunities for you to engage in activities that aim to broaden your perspectives, as well as learn valuable information about a variety of relevant topics.

Adventures in Technology

The five Rotary Clubs of Saskatoon and Rotaract are pleased to present a very exciting and rewarding opportunity for selected high school students across Western Canada. 

Join up to 37 high school students (32 from out of town) in an intense four and one-half day exploration of advanced technology, research, development and applications.

During their visit, participants will be able to open the doors to an exciting array of some of Canada's finest corporations and research facilities including the University of Saskatchewan, Areva Resources Ltd, Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan and the Canadian Light Source Synchrotron to name just a few.

Of course, the students will also be treated to the best in Saskatchewan hospitality and have the opportunity to make new friends from across the western provinces

Rotary Adventures in Human Rights (RAHR)
The Rotary Adventure in Human Rights program (RAHR) is a collaborative effort of Rotary District 5550 World Peace Partners with the Canadian Museum for Human Rights (CMHR).
The mandate and goal of the program is to provide students with an opportunity to explore human rights issues within the CMHR. Although the majority of the program will be held at the museum, there will be visits to various non-governmental organizations and other Winnipeg locations in order to see positive action in progress, in the area of human rights. At the end of the program, RAHR students will have an opportunity to design an action plan that they could implement within their schools. They will also network with other students and agencies, thus increasing their human rights network. 


What will be the themes discussed at the CMHR?

The CMHR staff will be focusing on: What are human rights, First Peoples rights in a changing Canada, Gender perspectives, Democratic rights and protecting rights in Canada. 

What other supporting activities are being planned?

A full day at the Immigrant and Refugee Centre of Manitoba (IRCOM) will be part of the RAHR program. Students will learn about different cultures and the challenges that newcomers face when coming to Canada. There will be some entertainment incorporated into the program as well.

Rotary Club of Whitecourt sent a handful of students to RYLE and Adventures in Citizenship youth programs spring 2025. The students presented their experiences to the club and some even volunteered at our big fundraiser Lobsterfest!
