The DA’s office prosecutes 44,000 cases a year. 80% are misdemeanors.

56 murders last year and higher than the previous year after of 30-40 a year. In the 80s and 90s it was much higher and one year 120 murders. Our county is low compared to other counties. 400 jury trials. DAs office consists of 540 Employees, 185 Prosecutors, 80 Investigators in multiple buildings. Largest prosecutors office north of LA. 85-90% conviction rate.They have a consumer mediation process and handles thousands a year. Because of Realignment fewer going to prison than before. Most County Jails are overcrowded but ours is not.

Increased crime in the last 2 years because we don’t have enough police officers.

4000-5000 less police officers in the state than we need due to cuts to local departments.

Three Strikes law was reformed to make the 3rd strike a serious felony not a misdemeanor.
