Lloyd Lowery talked about Vocational Services: Ethics training and working with the High Schools to teach Character Counts which reduced the truancy rates and discipline incidents. Using the 4-Way test, career days, etc. How your vocation can help us live our lives better. Which of our principles drives or inspires you? Our opportunity to learn from one another. (okay I should have type my notes up right after the meeting because I have no idea what the first part of this paragraph means! YiKES!)

Scot Smithee: Area Six Project for 5170 is 4/27/13 a Saturday. A one day work day on the Compassion Center which is our project this year. The Compassion Center on 8425 Monterey Road is open a few hours a day for services for the homeless. The building doesn’t meet code to house people but we will enhance what they have now. Need people to volunteer to LEAD each project. There are 7 projects; 1)Overlay flooring in the office/conference room/client areas. 2) Install an additional Washer & Dryer to be installed and install shelving and cabinets in the laundry area. 3) Replace Front doors. 4) Paint & Shelving in Utility Room 5) Paint floors with epoxy and move shelving in the wear house area to new location. Unbolt from floors and paint with epoxy paint. 6) Upgrade lighting in Conference room. Add or replace fixture to produce more light. 7) Relocate Industrial shelving from one area to another. And a new request: Add Insulation to walls of office & Client areas. Might not be able to do everything in One Day but we will try.

Scot stated we would need food/coffee for lunch & Steve Peat spoke out and shouted DONE! Whoo Hoo we will have Mickey D’s for lunch!

David Cox asked if we could use other people that are not Rotarians to lead a project like a plumber, flooring contractor, etc. And Scot said YES!

Scot presented a power point presentation and will post so that inquiring minds would have access.

Membership Committee: Rich Patereau reminded everyone to Share Rotary to bring in new members and we will have a social and invite prospects in March. Marco also stated people don’t just have to die to leave Rotary but they leave for many reasons. Like retiring and moving away. We have 10% attrition and each year we should replace these people.
