March is Water and Sanitation Month
More than 2.5 billion people lack access to adequate sanitation facilities. At least 3,000 children die each day from diarrheal diseases caused by unsafe water. Our projects give communities the ability to develop and maintain sustainable water and sanitation systems and support studies related to water and sanitation.

Celebrate with us in Atlanta

This year's Rotary International Convention is being held in Atlanta, Georgia, from June 10 to June 14.  Rotarians from around the world will be convening to share stories, learn about youth programs, exchange ideas about peace and conflict resolution and celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Rotary Foundation.  I looks to be a very festive occasion.

For more information visit the Rotary International Convention website.

Please consider registering for this event.  It will be an experience like no other.
Rotary International Theme for 2017-18
In 2017-18, we’ll answer the question “What is Rotary?” with RI President-elect Ian H.S. Riseley’s theme, Rotary: Making a Difference. “Whether we’re building a new playground or a new school, improving medical care or sanitation, training conflict mediators or midwives, we know that the work we do will change people’s lives — in ways large and small — for the better.”

 Attracting New Members to Rotary

Attracting members to join Rotary is not an easy task. In fact, often times, we see that even though the majority of people are aware of Rotary, only a few know what Rotarians actually do. The prospective members we try and recruit are often our friends and family members. How then do we attract those outside of our personal radar?

Rotary Foundation Thought

This week’s Rotary Foundation Thought is about Foundation programs.

"One day we will awaken to a world where every mother will be able to write her child‘s name and that child will be able to grow up to write his or her own name. The world will be free of polio; every human being in the world will be able to reach out and drink a clean, clear, glass of water without fear of disease or contamination; we will all breathe-in the fresh, clean air of a world of peace." This can all be accomplished through the programs of The Rotary Foundation. But we must all give something, any amount, to The Rotary Foundation, every year. — Past District Governor Don Gregory

The ABC's of Rotary

Every Rotarian an Example to Youth

In 1949, the RI Board adopted the slogan Every Rotarian an Example to Youth as an expression of commitment to children and youth in each community in which Rotary clubs exist. Serving young people has long been an important part of the Rotary program.

Youth service projects take many forms around the world. Rotarians sponsor Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops, athletic teams, centers for disabled children, school safety patrols, summer camps, orphanages, recreation areas, safe driving clinics, county fairs, child-care centers, and children’s hospitals. Many clubs provide vocational counseling, establish youth employment programs, and promote use of The 4Way Test. Increasingly, drug/alcohol abuse prevention and AIDS awareness projects are being supported by Rotarians.

In every instance, Rotarians have an opportunity to be role models and mentors for the young people of their community. One learns to serve by observing others. As our youth grow to become adult leaders, it is hoped each will achieve that same desire and spirit to serve future generations.

The slogan accepted over 60 years ago is just as vital today.

Opportunities to give service

The club has fundraisers and service events coming up!

Give our Club all the support you can to make it successful.  We need all cylinders firing!!!  Please do what you can to serve our club.  If you not being asked to serve the club, ask where you can help!

Participate in Every Rotarian Every Year.  Any amount you can contribute will help the success of Rotary International in your community and around the world.  Let's try to become a 100% EREY club, where every member contributes something to the Rotary Foundation, either directly or through the club.

Think of another way in which you could serve our club, or help a committee chair with some of their responsibilities.  Abby and Kathy are assembling the team for the next Rotary year.  Help them in any way that you can, even if you have not been asked.

Participation is the key to an effective club!!!!

Serve Early, Serve Often!
