September 2019 Training Talk: District Trainer Edition

This special issue of Training Talk is dedicated to district trainers. Share this information with other trainers in your district.

Learning Center update
The Learning Center has more than 450 courses for members and club and district officers. Before your next in-person training, ask participants to complete one or more of the courses in the Learning Center to prepare them for your event.

Here are some courses to recommend:
And be sure to promote these resources to club officers:
The club officer courses in English now reflect the recent Council on Legislation (COL) changes and we’ve updated the format of the materials from PDF documents to interactive learning modules. The updated courses will be available in more languages by the end of December.

For a full list of courses, see the Learning Center course catalog.
Leader’s guides for your training events
Are you looking for ideas for your next training event? Our leader’s guides include suggested speaking points, activities, and worksheets. Customize them to suit your needs. Share these links (available at rotary.org/trainers) with your facilitators:
In addition to these guides, the Train the Trainer Seminar Leader’s Guide offers topics and worksheets you can customize for training event facilitators.

Look for the new Vibrant Club Workshop Leader’s Guide early next year. This workshop will combine the district membership seminar, district Rotary Foundation seminar, and district public image seminar as of July 2020, and will help clubs engage members in more interactive discussions around these topics.

Use the Practice Lab to train in My Rotary
Have participants practice adding members, updating club data, and more in My Rotary without the risk of posting publicly or changing a record. Practice Lab accounts have a fake district and club created for people to try different tasks and review the results. If you’d like a Practice Lab account for future training, complete this form.

Access Learning Center reports
Find out which courses members in your district are taking in the Learning Center by requesting access to usage reports. People in these roles can receive weekly reports by email:
  • District governors-elect
  • District trainers
  • District Rotary Foundation committee chairs
  • District membership chairs
If you’re serving in one of these roles and want to receive the reports, complete the Access to Learning Center Reports course in the Learning Center. You can find the course on the My Dashboard page or by searching for it on rotary.org/learn.

We’re here to support you in your training efforts. Send your questions and suggestions to the Learning and Development staff at learn@rotary.org.
