Presidents Message

"Silver linings rise out of the most challenging circumstances."
Jennifer Jones, Past President of Rotary International.

What another great week for our Rotary Club.  On Wednesday, we heard from Paul Salvatore and the December lineup of events for our club.  A major shout out to Paul for lining up our December activities including Angel Tree, Breakfast with Santa and preparation of food for families in need on Christmas.  We also got an education from Karen Facer-Mee CPA of Warminster regarding HR 1 aka The One Big Beautiful Bill which will affect everyone from individuals to small businesses.

Yesterday at the 7th annual Pickering Manor Sips n Suds event at Rafters, our club was honored with the 2025 Sidney T. Yates Award.  Thank you to all of the Rotarians who attended the event.  This award is a tribute to the impact we provide to our community.

Pancakes???  How about Pancake Day this Sunday November 16th from 9am-12:30pm at the American Legion.  Bring the family and neighbors as Joe Garvey and staff make the pancakes.  There is more information located in this newsletter.

This Wednesday November 19th we will have classification talks and Mick Petrucci will facilitate the committee chairs reports and then the following day on Thursday November 20th is our Camaraderie for a Cause as we spotlight The Friends of Tyler State Park.  Our venue is Blue Point Grill in the Newtown Shopping Center across from TD Bank.  Our C4C runs from 5:30-7pm and we ask those in attendance to contribute at least $10 of which all proceeds go to The Friends of Tyler State Park.

There will be no meeting on November 26th due to the Thanksgiving Holiday.  To all of you, enjoy the holiday with your loved ones and lastly count your blessings and not your troubles.

Steve Sabel
President, Rotary Club of Newtown, District 7430

Rotarians Receiving Awards!!!
Pickering Manor "Sips & Suds" - 11/13
Members of the Newtown Rotary Club attended Pickering Manor's Annual "Sips & Suds" fundraising event on Thursday, November 13th.  Funds raised during this event help Pickering Manor continue invest in building improvements and residents' care and we were happy to participate.  The highlight of the evening was when the Newtown Rotary Club  received the Sidney T. Yates Award for "extraordinary generosity, civic leadership and longtime partnership with Pickering Manor"!  This was such an honor for us, especially because our two organizations share the same mission of helping our community be a wonderful place in our quest for "service above self".  Representing the Newtown Rotary Club to receive the award were Paul Salvatore, President Steve Sabel and Past President Debra Porter.  Paul's partner in crime Tony Petsis was not present.  Congratulations to our Club and we look forward to our continued strong partnership with Pickering Manor for a long time to come!
