"The measure of our success will be the condition on which we leave the world for the next generation."Robert Redford, the iconic film actor, Broadway performer and creator of the Sundance Film Festival who passed away this week. Did you know that Robert Redford as a young actor performed in the late 1950's and early 1960's at the Bucks County Playhouse in New Hope.
Our club has been quite busy so far in September. We welcomed our current District Governor Mary Cook, learned about the intricacies of employment law with Grace Deon and fellow member Scott Fegley and a few days ago current Doylestown Rotary Club President Gail Linenberg and Mary Nogami talking to us about the Bowman Hill Wildflower Preserve.
The club doesn't rest as this Thursday September 25th our Camaraderie for a Cause spotlights the Newtown Library Company, one of the oldest libraries in Pennsylvania at Isaac Newton's. Our C4C goes from 5:30-7pm and we ask for a minimum $10 donation which goes directly to the Newtown Library Company. Our next club meeting is a dinner meeting on Wednesday October 1st, 2025 from 6:30-7:45pm at the American Legion. Our meeting salutes the work of our Next Gen group as they share their visions and goals for the Rotary year. In fact they are asking for volunteers to help them with the maintenance of the Rotary plaque rock in the parking lot where Isaac Newton's is on Tuesday October 7th, 2025 from 5:30-6:30pm.
Please make sure to scroll down the newsletter since the club has a number of events and activities we will be a part of for the remainder of September and into October.
We have heard you and our club provides options with lunch, dinner and even breakfast meetings. Our first meeting is always a dinner meeting from 6:30-7:45pm. The second and third meetings of the month are lunch meetings from 12:30-1:30pm. Our C4C is always the 4th Thursday of the month at a local Newtown venue. They run from 5:30-7pm.
Our Lower Bucks Action Committee meets the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month at the Garden of Eatin in Levittown for breakfast from 7:30-8:30pm.
All of our lunch and dinner meetings are held at the American Legion on Linden Avenue in Newtown. I always recommend coming around noonish for lunch meetings and 6ish for dinner meetings to register, network, grab a scrumptious meal from Joe Garvey and find a table with fellow members.
Thank you to all for being a part of the most vibrant service club in the Newtown area. Service above self.
Steve Sabel
President, Rotary Club of Newtown, District 7430

HELP NEEDED!
C4C Chairperson Role Available
Our Camaraderie for a Cause events have become such a huge hit not only with our Club but the local businesses and charities we support through this effort. But these events don't magically happen so please consider volunteering to organize them each month. It's actually a very fun role! Please contact Jennifer Ceslak at jceslak@comcast.net or 267-566-2407 to find out more. Pretty please!
Camaraderie for a Cause - 9/25
Please join us for our Camaraderie for a Cause event to benefit the Newtown Library Company! The Newtown Library is an historic subscription‑based library founded in 1760, and is still managed in part by dedicated volunteers under its original charter. It houses a curated collection of over 20,000 volumes spanning two and a half centuries, including local historic archives. Steeped in Newtown’s colonial heritage, it continues to serve as a cultural and educational hub in the heart of Bucks County. So please join us at Isaac Newtown's from 5:30-7:00pm. Bring $10 and a few friends and get ready to have a great time! Important Note:Food is not included in our C4C's and isn't covered by our $10 donation to the cause. Sometimes venues donate food but that is the exception rather than the rule. Let's plan to patronize our venues to help them out as they are gracious to host us. Thanks much.
Join us at our Rotary Table at an "Antique Car Show" hosted by Potential Inc. This event is not just about sleek cars; it’s about driving change and supporting a cause close to our hearts—autism awareness. The Newtown Rotary Club will have a table at this event and will look for volunteers! The location for the Car Show is at Bucks County Community College and the show runs from 1:00-5:00pm - we will set up our table in the parking lot with the other vendors. See you there!!!
Join us for our Monthly Dinner Meeting at the American Legion from 6:00-7:30pm. We will hear from Tom Minutella, President of our NextGen Club as he shares his vision for this ground and how we can support this vision. We will also induct some new members which is always a wonderful time! Rotarian and District Judge, Mick Petrucci, will do the honors! Should be a great evening and we look forward to seeing you there. Dinner will cost $25 and you may BYOB!
Please join us at the Linton Memorial / Peaceable Kingdom Park on Sunday, October 5th where the Newtown Rotary Club will proudly install a Peace Pole for the community to enjoy. A Peace Pole is an internationally recognized symbol of the hopes and dreams of the entire human family, standing vigil in silent prayer for peace on earth. Each Peace Pole bears the message ""May Peace Prevail on Earth"" in different languages on each of its four or six sides. This event will take place from 4:00-5:00pm and there will be music and celebration so be sure to join us for this very exciting event!
Please join the NextGen group on Tuesday, October 7th from 5:30-6:30pm to do some much needed landscaping around our Rotary Plaque in the Isaac Newton's Parking Lot. Dress in comfortable clothes, bring some gloves and water and be prepared to do some meaningful work. I'm sure the group will convene at Isaac Newtown's afterword for a much deserved libation! Please contact Tom Minutella at thomas.minutella@gmail.com if you have any questions. Thank you!
Please join us for the next Book Club on Sunday, October 19th from 3:00-5:00pm! This month's selection is "All The Beauty In The World", by Patrick Bringley. It was named one of the best books of the year and is an “exquisite”, “hauntingly beautiful” portrait of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and its treasures by a former New Yorker staffer who spent a decade as a museum guard. Stay tuned for the location but we wanted to share this right away so we can start reading! Please join us for some robust discussion and fellowship - it really is a great time! Please contact Laurel Collins at LAUREL8690@YAHOO.COM with any questions.
The Newtown Rotary Club held a very special lunch meeting on Wednesday, September 10th. During this meeting, we had the great pleasure of inducting five new members into our Club: Shirley Chacon, Karen Platts, Gina Daniels, Ken Naglak and Tanya Byelich. We are thrilled to welcome these amazing individuals into our club and can't wait to see the great things they will do! We also welcomed Grace Deon, Esq who is the President and CEO of Eastburn and Gray, as our keynote speaker. Grace and fellow Rotarian, Scott Fegley, spoke to our group and helped us understand employment law and gave us all some great advice.. Lastly we unveiled our "Peace Pole" which will be installed in the "Peaceable Kingdom" park in Newtown on October 5th. Stay tuned for details!
Rotarians Reading Books!
Book Club - 9/7
Wow, look at this turnout for the Newtown Rotary Club's Book Club event on Sunday, September 7th! The group read and had robust discussion on a book entitled "The View From Lake Como" from the beloved New York Times bestselling author Adriana Trigiani. This is a novel about one woman’s quest to build her own life before it’s too late. It really is a great book. Special thanks to Shikha Prashar's who hosted this event in her lovely home. Please stay tuned for the next Book Club selection and date and be sure to join us for some fellowship and fun, even if you don't have a chance to read the book! The more, the merrier!
Rotarians Breaking Down Bikes!
"Bike Break Down Party" - 9/12
Take a look at this group that assembled at Allen Fidler's barn to break down the 86 bikes we have collected so far for Pedals for Progress! The team worked very hard to remove the pedals and loosen the handlebars so we can ship the bikes efficiently. It was "dirty work" but the atmosphere was fun and the team felt great when it was done. They were able to present Alan from P4P with these 86 bikes and 13 sewing machines. We are well on our way to break our annual record on October 18th! Thank you to all of these wonderful volunteers, we are grateful for you! Service Above Self!
Our Sponsorship dollars at work! This banner was placed at Council Rock HS to showcase our support of the CRNHS Band! Well done, Newtown Rotary!
ALL members of the club are welcome - particularly if you can't make a scheduled lunch or dinner meeting and a breakfast meeting or meeting on Zoom works better. Any member who has interest in service projects in Bristol, Bensalem, Middletown, or Falls Townships would also want to check us out. For more information, please contact Kim Praria kdboice@hotmail.com
