This club doesn't rest on its laurels and we don't go on siesta in the summer months. On Wednesday August 13th, thanks to Shari Donahue, the club had a "Speed Dating-Rotary Style" event at the American Legion. It was well attended and received rave reviews from the participants. Without question we will do another one sometime in the Rotary year. We had in attendance two Visiting Rotarians from the new Yardley Rotary Club.
How about our committees and the ambassadors that serve on those committees. A thank you to both Susan and Donna of our Literacy Committee who are doing a Children's Book Drive for the Homeless Shelter this month. There is still time for fellow members and friends to donate children's books to add to the Homeless Shelter bookshelves.
Did I say Next Gen??? Our strong and vibrant group will be spotlighted this Thursday August 28th for our C4C at The Temperance House in Newtown from 5:30-7pm. Please scroll down in the newsletter to get more information on the August C4C.
Wednesday evening dinner September 3rd, 2025 is a special evening for our club as we welcome District Governor Mary Cook to the American Legion. DG Mary will be speaking on her vision and goals for the district and RI. We will be honoring a Bucks County hero in Jim McCaffrey, the President and CEO of McCaffrey Markets with a Paul Harris Fellow. Jim is a strong supporter of our club in terms of the golf outing and Hope of The Vine. Also, we welcome another partner of ours in Alan from Pedals for Progress, an event and project we have been involved with for a number of years. Let's make this a well attended event so please feel free to bring your spouses as well. Our dinner meetings start at 6:30 and run till roughly 7:45pm. As always, get there around 6ish to register, network, grab a seat and enjoy as always the scrumptious dinner buffet from Joe Garvey.
A week later on September 10th, 2025 at our lunch meeting we welcome Grace Deon, ESQ to speak on Employment Law and we will be inducting a few new members to the club.C,.
Meeting Options? Yes we heard you. First Wednesday of each month is a dinner meeting. Second and third meetings of the month are lunch meetings. Fourth Thursday of the month is our Happy Hour which we call C4C. Also, breakfast? Yes, Lower Bucks Action Committee meets the first and third Tuesday mornings at 7:30am for breakfast at the Garden of Eatin on Woodbourne Road in Levittown. Plenty of choices and options to attend the Rotary Club of Newtown.

Camaraderie for a Cause - NextGen - 8/28
Please join us for a special C4C on Thursday, August 28th for our Next Gen group as they are raising money and collecting items that benefit the Bucks County Agency on Aging. The goal is to stock the emergency shelves used by the Aging Care Managers who serve our most vulnerable aging community members. NextGen is asking for the following adult items to be brought to the C4C:
Pull ups of all sizes
Unopened packs of socks and underwear
Unopened/unused toiletries (travel size is best)
Shower wipes
Hand sanitizer
Antibacterial wipes
Mouthwash
No-water-needed toothbrushes
The monetary proceeds will go towards getting more weather appropriate clothing to add to the clothing already purchased by NextGen! This event will he held at the Temperance House from 5:30-7:00pm and we are excited to welcome Kristin Chapin who runs the entire Bucks County Agency on Aging. She is quite an accomplished woman and very excited about NextGen's initiative so let's give her a warm welcome! Please bring $10, your donations, a friend or two and be prepared to have a great time. Thank you and see you there!
Please join us as we warmly welcome our new District Governor, Mary Cook! This will be the first time Mary visits with our club and we want to make it a very special event. We will also be honoring Jim McCaffrey with a Paul Harris award in thanks for his support of our Club. In addition, Alan Schultz will be another special guest to kick off "Pedals for Progress 2025"! The dinner will take place at the American Legion and feature a dinner buffet by Joe Garvey for $25 per person. Adult" beverages will be available. See you there!
Please join us for our next Book Club where we will read "The View From Lake Como" from the beloved New York Times bestselling author Adriana Trigiani, a “dazzling” storyteller and a “comedy writer with a heart of gold”. This is a novel about one woman’s quest to build her own life before it’s too late. The group will meet on Sunday, September 7th from 4:00-6:00pm at Shikha Prashar's home. Please join us for some fellowship and fun, even if you don't have a chance to read the book! The more, the merrier.
Please join us for our Wednesday Lunch Meeting at the American Legion at 12:15pm and enjoy a lunch buffet for $16. During this meeting, we will welcome Grace Deon, Esq who is the President and CEO of Eastburn and Gray. Grace's concentration is in employment law but she also litigates commercial matters (including but not limited to breach of contract, negligence and fraud) and personal injury based claims. She will share fascinating insights and practical advice so look forward to seeing you there! In addition, we will do New Member Inductions which is always exciting!
The Newtown Rotary Club is collecting new and used books for the Levittown Homeless Shelter and we are looking for Elementary School level books, either old or new, and culture / diversity books are especially valued. The book drive will run for the month of August and members can bring the books to each of our four meetings for drop off. Rotarians Moving Books!!
Newtown Library Service Project - 8/8
On Friday, August 8th, a group of Rotarians assembled at an elderly resident's home to transport "over 1,000" books to the Newtown Library Company, as part of a generous book donation. This small but mighty group braved the heat to move these books safely and efficiently. What a wonderful service project that really came out of the blue but we responded and delivered, as usual! Thank you to this group of volunteers who put service above self, once again! Pictured are: Melanie, Mark, Maureen, Steve and Mick - Rob and Caroline helped as well.
Rotarians at the Phillies Game - 8/18
Several Rotary clubs in Eastern Pennsylvania and South Jersey participated in the 38th Annual Strike Out Hunger Night at the Philadelphia Phillies game on Monday, August 18, 2025. Of course members of the Newtown Rotary Club had to represent! The Phillies played the Seattle Mariners at Citizens Bank Park and beat them 12-7!Past District Governor Herb Klotz threw out the first pitch on behalf of Rotary. The Phillies will donate approximately 50% of the ticket price to Polio Plus, a Rotary Foundation initiative dedicated to eradicating polio worldwide. Thanks to the Sabel, Davis and Craig families who attended to watch the Phillies win for a great cause!
