Sir Nicholas Winton, British Humanitarian known for organizing 669 Czech children mostly Jewish from Nazi occupied Czechoslovakia during the 9 months in 1939 prior to the start of World War II. Sir Nicholas was also a former President and member of The Rotary Club of Maidenhead.
Last Thursday at our Camaraderie for a Cause, the club honored and spotlighted VITA Educational Services, a non profit organization based in Doylestown. They provide literacy programs in Bucks County along with educational programs for the Bucks County Correctional Facilities. A shout out to Dan and Joanne Peterson for facilitating this event and recognizing the accomplishments of VITA. Just a few days ago at our dinner meeting, we heard from Anne Marie Hyer, the Executive Director of the Bucks County Association of the Blind and Hearing Impaired, just a few blocks away from the American Legion in Newtown. It was great to hear what their mission and goals are in Bucks County.
This coming Wednesday at our lunch meeting, we will welcome Bill Sheffer and Walt Lafty from the Grand Army of The Republic Museum, probably the most hidden secret museum in Philadelphia. You may recognize the name Bill Sheffer who was a part of First National Bank of Newtown for many years and his involvement with the Lower Bucks County Chamber of Commerce and Newtown Business Association.
Per the notice below, we are resuming our "Lunch Only" Meeting Schedule for the first three Wednesdays of each month. The cost of lunch is still $16. Please make every attempt to register prior to attending the meetings so we provide Joe Garvey and his staff at the American Legion and accurate count for food and seating.
Our club doesn't rest on its laurels and continues to raise the bar doing "service" good in our community. Service above self.

***IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING DINNER MEETINGS!***
The Board has made a unanimous decision to Eliminate Dinner Meetings from our schedule and go back to Lunch Meetings only the first, second and third Wednesdays of each month. They will still be held at the American Legion from 12:15-1:30pm and will still cost $16. Our C4C's will be unchanged on the fourth Thursday. This decision was made based on analysis of our attendance at Dinners and the fact that, at times, we didn't have the minimum attendees required and had to pay Joe Garvey for empty seats.
If a month has an "extra Wednesday", we will plan a fun event / dinner etc to keep our momentum going! Stay tuned for that. Thank you very much!
Tom Miller Tribute
Our Rotary family is sad to share that fellow Newtown Rotarian Tom Miller passed away on February 22. Tom was a wonderful addition to our club and a fiercely proud Rotarian for many years. We will miss seeing him at our meetings and his witty sense of humor. Visitation and a Memorial Service will be held on Friday, March 27th at 10:00am and 11:00am, respectively, at J. Allen Hooper Funeral Chapel. You can make a donation in his memory as follows: Make a donation to Salvation Army - National Headquarters in memory of Tom H. Miller.

Bill will share the history and significance of this unique museum dedicated to Civil War veterans. The discussion will offer insight into an often-overlooked piece of Philadelphia’s cultural and historical heritage. Lunch costs $16 and is catered by Joe Garvey, see you there! The Newtown Rotary Club will host the Annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 28th from 10:00am - 12:00pm at Goodnoe Elementary School. The event will begin with a visit from the Easter Bunny at 10:15pm followed by the egg hunt at 11:00am. The egg hunt will be divided into age categories starting from the youngest to oldest. Each age group will have a “Golden Egg” prize valued at $75. This is "Free Fun" for all ages ranging from Toddlers to Grandparents and everyone in between! It promises to be a fun-filled event so please join us! Volunteers are requested at 9:00pm.

Anne Marie is the CEO of the Bucks County Association for the Blind & Visually Impaired and took the time to share how BCABVI empowers individuals with vision loss to live independently and confidently by providing essential services, life skills training, and meaningful employment opportunities. Through community education, prevention programs, and personalized support, the organization fosters inclusion and enhances quality of life for individuals and families across Bucks County. New Meeting Location!
Due to the Garden of Eatin' curtailing their hours, henceforth we will meet at Maryann's Homestyle Cooking at 1263 Woodbourne Road, Levittown PA 19057. This is a 2 blocks south of Garden of Eatin' on the opposite side of the road. OG Levittown-Fairless Hills members will remember that this was the original location of the GOE, and that we met there for years. So it's a little like coming home, but with someone else's furniture. Since this week's meeting never took place we're going to meet this coming Tuesday at 7:30AM. After that, we'll go back to our 1st and 3rd Tuesday schedule starting on 3/3.

Newtown Historic Association - Seeking Docents!
Newtown Historic Association
In recognition of our nation’s upcoming 250th Anniversary, the Newtown Historic
Association will be opening the Half-Moon Inn to the community on Sunday afternoons throughout 2026, as well as during special events.
Schedule for Half-Moon Inn Openings The Inn will be open every Sunday from 1:00–4:00 PM, excluding major family holidays such as Mother’s Day and Father’s Day.
Seeking Docents for 2026
To support these expanded hours, we are seeking two to four docents each Sunday to welcome visitors and share the history of the tavern, its role during the Revolutionary War, and its place in Newtown’s story.
Docent Training Sessions
Two 90-minute training sessions will take place at the Half-Moon Inn. Both new and returning docents are asked to attend one of the sessions:
· Sunday, February 22. 2026 from 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM
· Sunday, March 1, 2026 from 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM
Commitment
Docents will be asked to commit to a minimum of four Sundays during the year.
