Lunch Meeting - 8/12
Please join the Newtown Rotary Club for our Lunch Meeting on Wednesday, August 12th from 12:15-1:30pm at the American Legion. Our special guest for this meeting will be members of the "Guardian Angels Foundation" group whose mission is to cultivate a sustainable future through three core pillars: environmental stewardship, women's empowerment and educational enrichment. Lunch will be catered by Joe Garvey so bring $16 and prepare for a great discussion!
Please join us for the next Newtown Rotary "Book Club" where we will read "The Alchemist" by Paulo Coelho. "The Alchemist" is a timeless and inspiring story that follows Santiago, a young shepherd, whose recurring dream sends him on a journey in search of treasure. Along the way, he discovers far more than he ever imagined. Blending magic, mysticism, wisdom, and wonder, the novel explores themes of purpose, perseverance, and following one’s dreams. A modern classic translated into dozens of languages, it has inspired millions of readers around the world. Our group will meet on Sunday, August 16th from 3:00-5:00pm at Rosemary Horsley's home. Please join the Newtown Rotary Club for our Lunch Meeting on Wednesday, August 19th from 12:15-1:30PM at the American Legion. During this meeting, we will hear Classification Speeches from new members and hear updates from our Committee Chairs as they share key events and service projects planned for our Club. We will also induct New Members. Please bring $16 for lunch and get ready for a great meeting!

Please join our "Plane Pulling Team" as either a team member or spectator at this very fun, unique and meaningful fundraising event to benefit the Special Olympics. The event takes place on Saturday, October 10th from 8:30am - 12:00pm at the Lehigh Valley Int'l Airport located at Postal Road, Allentown PA.
Event Schedule:
8:30 a.m. – 9:45 a.m. – Plane tours
10:00 a.m. – Plane Pull competition begins
8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. – Food trucks, music, vendors, and family activities
Gates open for spectators:10:00 a.m.
We need to raise $2,500 / team and we'd like to have two teams participate. If you want to be a team member, please register by signing up (via link below) and paying a minimum of $25 using our PayPal QR code or link (below).

The Newtown Rotary Club's inaugural "Movie Matinee Mondays" kicked off on Monday, July 27th as a group of Rotarians went to see The Odyssey. This movie is Christopher Nolan's masterpiece based on Homer's Odyssey, an ancient Greek epic poem composed approximately 2,800 years ago. Not only was it a great movie but it was a great opportunity for fun and fellowship! Stay tuned for the next "Movie Matinee Monday" selection, date and time so you can mark your calendars. Newtown Historical Society Event & Volunteer Opportunity!
Dear NHA Members and Friends,
The Newtown Historic Association is proud to sponsor Newtown Celebrates America 250. Please join us on August 8th from 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM to enjoy a full day of living history in Historic Newtown.
The day begins with Revolutionary War encampments, colonial crafts, fife and drum music, and the Battle at the Bird-in-Hand, featuring approximately 50 reenactors portraying American and British forces. Following the battle, there will be a patriotic finale featuring a ceremonial 21-gun salute and a community sing-along of "Happy Birthday" led by Mayor Tara Grunde-McLaughlin.
Throughout the afternoon, visitors can explore local museums, churches, meeting houses, and historic landmarks. Programs will highlight the Revolutionary War, Civil War, African American history, early Pennsylvania, and Newtown's local heritage.
Featured experiences include:
- A first-person interpretation of Harriet Tubman.
- Hessian soldiers discussing their experiences during the Revolutionary War.
- A William Penn interpretation and various historic exhibits.
- A demonstration of "Old Washy," Newtown's restored 200-year-old hand-pumped fire engine.
