Newtown Rotary Club Delivers over 1600 Pounds to Penndel Food Pantry

“When we delivered the food, they weighed it as we brought it in and we collected a total of 1,606 pounds of food. I think that is pretty good considering much of it was cereal which doesn’t weight very much.” said Dan Peterson who chaired the event
“We’ve held a food collection twice a year for several years, and the need has not diminished. In fact, due to the weak economy during the past few years, the demand for food pantries like the Penndel Food Pantry has only increased. Nevertheless, our Members are always moved by the generosity of shoppers at the Newtown ACME.” added Peterson.
“I want to thank all of the club members who gave their time on a weekend to help make this event a success.
Special thanks to the ACME management who allowed us to set up collection points in front of their
Newtown store. We plan to continue to hold similar collections twice a year.” said Peterson.
The Newtown Rotary next public event will be The Annual Golf Outing on Monday, September 23. The outing is co-sponsored by the Newtown Business Association. Proceeds from the Golf Outing are earmarked for Pickering Manor, the only community-owned-and-operated senior living facility in the Commonwealth of PA.
