Newtown Rotary names Rick Rogers Rotarian of The Year


Rick Receives Award- Rick, Kathy, JakeAugust, Newtown, PA. The Newtown Rotary Club named Rick Rogers “Rotarian of The Year for 2012-2013”.
Kathy Moore, President of the Club for that year, along with Jake Doneker, the current President,
presented the award to Rogers for “his outstanding service as Chair of our
Youth Services committee this past year.”

Moore added that “Rick volunteered to chair this new committee and through his leadership and
enthusiasm, we are now sponsoring an Interact Club of more than 80 high school students.
Also this year, we have two inbound and one outbound exchange students.
Another first was the Youth Services Rotary night at Council Rock North (CRN) High School
for members of the Interact Club and Exchange Students and their families.
Congratulations to Rick for a job well done!”

Rick, a Senior Vice President of Wealth Management with UBS Financial Services in Newtown, was humbled by the event and gave credit to the team: “
It was truly a team effort with Kathy Moore suggesting the creation of a Youth Committee along with our committee members,

 
Carolyn Edwards, Madison Sauerman and Shari Donohue, the PR work of Gadi Naaman and
most importantly, the tireless work of Sarah Huskin, the Interact advisoSam Receives Citation from Gov.r at CRN. 
Sarah was the driving force at CRN organizing and motivating the students to achieve
the Presidential Citation for the first time”

“On a personal note” Rick noted, “I was involved in my daughter's activities at Council Rock and then at Penn State. Now that she has graduated, it gives me a reason to stay involved in the energetic activities that I was used to. I suppose you can say it helps me stay young,” he added with a smile.

Rotary District Governor Frank Romano was on hand to present the official Presidential Citation to the Interact Club which was received by Samantha Bunke, next year’s President of the Interact Club.

The Newtown Rotary will hold The Annual Golf Outing on Monday, September 23. It is co-sponsored by the Newtown Business Association. Proceeds from the Golf Outing are earmarked for Pickering Manor, the only community-owned-and-operated senior living facility in the Commonwealth of PA.
