Join us for a private, docent-led tour of the renowned Barnes Foundation, home to one of the largest and most celebrated collections of impressionist, post-impressionist, and early modernist art in the world.
This fellowship event, sponsored by the Newtown Rotary Club, offers a unique opportunity to support the arts while connecting with the community. Open to club members and the public alike, it’s an inviting way to learn, and share an extraordinary cultural experience. This outing also makes a perfect Valentine’s Day gift for sweethearts of all ages.
About the Experience:
Led by a specially trained docent, this exclusive one-hour tour offers insight into the museum's permanent collection and its fascinating history. You'll explore highlights, including:
- 181 Renoirs (the largest collection in the world)
- 69 Cézannes (more than in all of France)
- 59 Matisses, 46 Picassos, 7 Van Goghs, and works by other renowned artists such as Manet, Degas, and Seurat.
Beyond paintings, the collection features African sculptures, Native American pottery, wrought-iron metalwork, jewelry, and Pennsylvania German furniture—all arranged in Dr. Albert C. Barnes’ unique "ensembles," designed to encourage fresh perspectives on art.
Cost (to be collected at the event):
- $40 per person for the private docent-led tour.
- Optional round-trip bus transportation is available for an additional $50 per person.
- $5 donation to the Rotary Club of Newtown is also optional.
Transportation Options:
- Round-Trip Bus: Departs from the American Legion parking lot in Newtown at 1:00 PM.
- Self-Drive or Carpool: Guests are also invited to meet at the museum. The Barnes Foundation is conveniently located in Philadelphia, near the Rodin Museum and The Franklin Institute.
