Members of The Rotary Club of Hillsborough gathered at The Village Green Park this past Wednesday to recognize Earth Day and appreciate the lasting tribute of 35 trees they donated and planted there one year ago. A plaque commemorating the donation serves as a permanent reminder to all who enjoy this park that we all share a responsibility to care for our planet.  The plaque reads:
In recognition of Arbor Day and the global Rotary initiative to raise environmental awareness, the Rotary Club of Hillsborough, on the 27thday of April, 2018, proudly dedicated this grove of 35 trees to current and future generations of Hillsborough Township residents for their enjoyment and as a reminder that we must all be good stewards of our planet.
The grove of trees include16 Kwanzan Flowering Cherries, 9 River Birch, 4 Sycamore, 3 Tin Oaks, and 3 Red Maples along the walkways and in a future picnic area at the Village Green Park, once home to two of the Town’s early baseball and softball fields.
