Sailors on the USS Nimitz show off a few of the 100 boxes of toiletries and snacks that were packed in December by volunteers from the Rotary Club of Hillsborough, Operation Shoebox and the Hillsborough community. The Club hosted its annual Operation Shoebox packing event at the Hillsborough YMCA, which brought together over 100 volunteers. Jared Burchette, pictured in the center of the back row against the stars of the flag, is a Hillsborough native who used to volunteer at the annual packing event throughout his childhood along side his father, Greg Burchette, a former member of the Club. Jared is now an Air Traffic Controller on the USS Nimitz.
