Vocational Service Award Recipient
Joe Horner
Rotary Club of Hillsborough

The 2014 Vocational Service Award will be presented to Hillsborough Rotarian Joe Horner at the annual Vocational Award Assembly on October 7, 2014 at the Pines Manor in Edison.

Joe was unanimously selected by the Committee, a testament to his involvement in the Vocational Avenue of Service.
Joe has been a small business owner for over thirty years. He is not only fair and understanding of his employees on a business level by providing good working conditions and a very generous benefit package, he is also very compassionate and giving on a personal level. He works alongside his employees in a quiet yet authoritative manner, earning the respect and admiration of all who work for him.

Although he has only been a Rotarian since 2003, he has lived his entire life by the Four Way Test. Rotary has been a forum for Joe to work with people of like minds, ways and ideas in helping people who need it most and to bring hope and unity to communities. He is a real-life hero to many; he is someone that many people count on, and is someone to call a friend.

Joe always focuses on being truthful and fair in how he conducts himself personally and professionally. He is a very busy entrepreneur, but making time for Rotary and District 7510 is something that he is passionate about. Although Joe is pragmatic and wants to get things done, he will always take others' opinions into consideration.
Having been involved in the solid waste management industry for his entire career, Joe is an established and known figure in that industry throughout New Jersey. He has been called upon by larger solid waste corporations for advice and assistance on waste management issues. A proven leader and mentor, Joe has always stayed focused on his employees and his customers, being honest and treating them with respect and courtesy. These traits have created for Joe longstanding relationships throughout his professional life.

Most tellingly, Joe has been an inspiration to all of the Hillsborough Rotarians. "He has helped us all become better and more productive Rotarians," said club president Anthony Franchini. "Joe has lead by example, always the first to work hard and inspire others."

Please join us as we recognize Joe at the Vocational Service Awards Assembly on October 7 at the Pines Manor.
