October 12th, 2011: Club Night 

Scituate Rotary Club Members in attendance were Lambert Brandes, Lois Brandes, Janice Brown, William Clark, Candace Cramer, James Gilmore, Beatrice Hurwitch, Michael Johnson, Joe Kelley, John Miller, Bart Nuboer, Jeannie Durkee, Robert Price, Sandra Schipul, Janet Schmitz, Ben Summers, Lisa Tompson, Howard Tufts, Richard Wainwright, and Bernie Westerveld.
Our honorary member, Connie Mitchell, was in attendance, as well as Elizabeth Nuboer and Beverly Westerveld. 

The meeting was convened at 6:30 at The Scituate Country Club.  

Joe Kelley led The Pledge to The American Flag.  

Ben Summers gave the Invocation.  

President Jamie Gilmore led the speaking of The Four Way Test.

Ben Summers presented a word of wisdom, "While you're carrying a grudge, the other guy's out dancing."  

William Clark was our acting Sergeant of Arms and collected Happy Sad Bucks.

President Jamie led the singing of Happy Birthday to Lois Brandes.

Jamie Gilmore presented an honorary Rotary Pin to Elizabeth Nuboer.   Elizabeth will be going back home to Holland after successful hand surgery before our next Rotary meeting.  

Club Night announcements and discussions followed:  

     William Clark put up a new Rotary sign on 3A  Thank You, William.  

     Janice Brown made an announcement concerning the Fashion Show Fundraiser at The River Club on October 16 benefitting The Ruth House in Brockton.  

     The next Marshfield Pioneers meeting will not be a breakfast.  It will be a visioning work meeting TBA.  Jack Stebe is committed to this effort.  

     Tickets still need to be sold for The Paw Sox event on October 21, 2011.

     Lisa, Dietrich, Bernie, Janice, and Howard are planning to attend The New Generations Seminar on October 22, 2011.

     There will be a Foundation Dinner on Tuesday night, November 15, at The Venus Di Milo in Swansea.  

     Janet Schmitz and Robert Schipul presented Rotary End Polio Now to the students in Scituate Public Schools.  

     President Jamie passed out a Charitable Contribution Request Form that all persons and groups requesting financial assistance need to fill out.  This is a new form.   Bernie will post it on the website.    

     Robert Schipul and Dan Schmelzer presented a program to Seacoast Rotary in Portsmouth, NH.  Gene Doherty of Seacoast Rotary personally donated $250.00 to the work of Capstone in Kenya.  The secretary will send a thank you note to Gene.

     There will be a Giving Tree Meeting next week, October 19, at 6:00 pm for all interested in being a part of this effort.  

The meeting was adjourned at 8:00 pm.
