November 16th, 2011: Million Dollar Night
Members present at our weekly Scituate Rotary Club Meeting were Dietrich Bilger, Lambert Brandes, Lois Brandes, Janice Brown, William Clark, Jeannie Durkee, James Gilmore, Joe Kelley, John Miller, Bart Nuboer, Judy Price, Robert Price, Robert Schipul, Sandra Schipul, Janet Schmitz, Lisa Tompson, Howard Tufts, and Bernie Westerveld.
Guests present were Karen Kelley, and David Tompson.
Million Dollar Night was held at the home of Janice Brown and Rusty Brown. Janice and Rusty were once again the quintessential hostess and host. Scituate Rotary Members basked in their hospitality and generosity the entire evening. Janice served a delicious pork tenderloin roast, and members brought side dishes and desserts to share. Yum!
Joe and Karen Kelley passed around pictures and awards received in the name of their son, Michael, at a recent ceremony in Washington, D.C. Michael, in the National Guard, gave his life in service to his country. Michael will always be proudly and lovingly remembered. Thank You, Karen and Joe, for sharing the memory of your son, Michael, with us. We honor Michael, you, and your family.
Members signed up to work at locations collecting for the Giving Tree Project. Candace Cramer is coordinating the Scituate effort, and Jack Stebe is coordinating the Marshfield effort.
Janet Schmitz had prepared a Game of Jeopardy with questions about Rotary International. We were divided into five teams with a tremendous prize in store for the winning team. Robert Schipul's Team and Sandi Schipul's Team were neck and neck. The game closed with 29 points going to Bob's Team, and 26 points going to Sandi's Team. Robert Schipul. Dietrich Bilger, William Clark, and Joe Kelley were all allotted $50.00 toward their yearly gift to the Rotary Foundation. Congratulations!!!!
After an evening of fun and fellowship, members left with their spirits lifted, ready to celebrate a Happy Thanksgiving.
