Rotary Newsletter for June 29th, 2011: Installation of President Jamie Gilmore and his officers

Invocation: Bob prayer esp for guidance and support for our new president Jamie.

Jamie introduced James Cantwell, friends of his Kevin Tufts and Harold Tufts and Sarah Woodman.

Bob introduced Luella Harlos, Marshfield, and Henry Bertolon , Hingham.

President William opened the meeting and welcomed all the guests.

William did a review  of all we had done with his leadership. He thanked all for their work and support.We need to move forward and support Jamie this  year with his leadership. We have started a strong relationship with our community.

William had incoming President Jamie Gilmore come forward and congratulated him. 

William had all the Past Presidents stand.

Assistant Governor Dietrich Bilger spoke about the rotary and said every Club Officer resigns and we elect new officers.

William had his board come forward and thanked his officers President Elect Jamie Gilmore, Secretary Joan Powers, Club Treasurer Jeannie O'Donoghue, Foundation Treasurer Joe Kelly, Director Janet Schmitz, and Director Bernie Westerveld.
Special thanks were issued to Sergeant at Arms Walter Heller.

Janet presented William with an extra special "End  Polio Now" designer tie from the club.

Assistent Governor Dietrich Bilger installed the new President 2011-2012 Jamie Gilmore, and the new officers, President Elect Sandra Schipul, Secretary Lois Brandes, Club Treasurer Jeannie O'Donoghue, Foundation Treasurer Joe Kelly, Director Janet Schmitz and Director Jack Stebe on the board. 

Dietrich had the club members stand and pledge their support to Jamie during his year as president. Jamie you have the support of the club members.

Dietrich  congratulated  Jamie  as the Scituate Club's  new president 

Jamie, the new  president introduced his board members and  presented each of the board members with their pins.  Jamie presented William with the ex-president's pin. William presented Jamie with the president's pin, gravel and the special international scarf.

Jamie gave everyone a  Scituate lighthouse Rotary pin.

Jamie said this is an unique club and  this club is 43 years old and I have broad shoulders to stand on and look forward to the club members to help in the coming year. In outreach he would like to see us help Marshfield get their club back working and getting their business men involved. He would like to see them have two breakfast meetings. to get more members and have our club sponsor a club in Marshfield. More power with numbers. We are going to continue with all our programs and go on This is a challenge for all of us. I want your ideas and support you any way I can. We rose to help this year with the emergencies in Scituate.

Jamie told us about the short term exchange program. It is sponsored by Rotary for three weeks in a different country and the student in that country spend three weeks in Scituate. There is no cost to the local Rotary Club. We should have a good write-up in the Mariner about this program.

He introduced José Andreu from Spain and Patrick Kearney from Scituate. José is now visiting here for three weeks. and then Patrick will go over to Spain for three weeks. They told us what they have been doing in Scituate and there further plans in Scituate and in Spain. They both thanked the club and Jamie for being able to have this experience.

Jamie then introduced James Cantwell, State Representative. Jim Cantwell's son enjoyed a short term exchange program like ours although not connected with Rotary.  

James Cantwell thanked the club for all they have done.

Lambert played and Lois, Janet, Sandi and Bart sang the 4-Way-Test song to Jamie and the Club.

Buffet Dinner and two beautiful decorated cakes.

We had wonderful music through out the evening by Lance Van Lenten, Dave Clark, and Andy McWain.
